Brian O’Connell

Brian O'Connell grew up in Ireland where he was a drummer in various Rock and Jazz bands. As a kid, he would travel six hours each way for drum lessons near Dublin where he was trained by the top drum instructor in Ireland. At the age of 17, Brian was playing with seasoned Jazz musicians in Cork.

Brian moved to the United States at the age of 24 to land a job playing with a major band. Disgruntled with the music business, he moved to Hawaii to follow his love of surfing.

After taking a hiatus for a number of years, he picked up drumming again with an electric drum kit in his apartment in San Francisco. This electric drum kit allowed him to play in a building filled with other people. He began playing with Austin Shaw, after the passing of their good friend Daniel. This inspired an album that led to a U.S. tour.
